HOW TO REACH BHUTAN ?

Druk Air has a fleet of modern planes. Druk Air flies in and out of Bhutan from:

  • Bagdogra (IXB – India)

Bhutan Airlines began its international operations in October 2013. It’s sectors to Bhutan include:

  • Bangkok (BKK – Thailand)
  • Delhi (DEL – India)
  • Kolkata (CCU – India)
  • Kathmandu (KTM – Nepal)

Phuentsholing and Samdrup Jongkhar are the ONLY entry point to Bhutan overland.

From Phuentsholing, it is

• 06 hours drive to Thimphu/Paro
• 03 hours drive to Bagdogra/NJP
• 05 hours drive to Kalimpong
• 06 hours drive to Darjeeling/Gangtok.

DO WE NEED A VISA ?

Indian Tourist traveling to Bhutan do not need a Visa. However they need a travel Permit to visit Bhutan.

ENTERING BHUTAN BY FLIGHT

If entering Bhutan by flight, you will need to fill up the Permit form, which will be handed over to you by the immigration officer at the Paro airport. A copy of the permit will be handed over to you, which you will have to surrender to the immigration officials when you take the flight back from Paro. The same permit form is also required to make your Route permit (if traveling to Wangdue, Gantey, Trongsa and Bumthang).

ENTERING BHUTAN BY LAND

Phuentsholing is the ONLY entry point to enter Bhutan overland.

You will have to visit the immigration office where your entry permit will be processed and your passport size photograph taken. The process takes 02 – 03 hours. After procuring your entry permit, you can travel to Thimphu and Paro.

Immigration office will only issue you the permits on the working days (The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays). Kindly check with us the Government Holiday list.

ROUTE PERMIT

Your Route permit will ONLY be made in Thimphu on the working days between 0900 – 1100. No Route permit is issued on non working days (Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays). Route permit and Special permit for visiting monuments are processed only after your arrival. After producing the copy of the entry permit stamped on your passport upon your arrival in Paro airport along with your Passport copy the permits are issued. Two working days is required to process the permits.

WHAT DO WE NEED FOR THE PERMIT ?

You need to carry 04- passport size photograph and the copy of either your passport or the Election card with you. Driving License and Ration Card are not valid document to procure the permit.

FOOD

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner will be served in buffet, same as international tourist (does not include soup, dessert and drinks). Extra items taken apart from buffet is payable directly by the guests.
